One feature that distinguishes our Enhanced Flight Ground Power Units (GPUs) is their dual digital output meters for volts and amps. This large LED display is incredibly useful for measuring load changes as airframe circuits are activated and tested. However, in some aircraft the location of the external power receptacle makes it difficult to observe the GPU meters and monitor the electrical load.

The GPU metering system now features an audible alarm (since January, 2015) to warn the operator whenever the electrical load exceeds its rated output. This feature also flashes the digital display along with the audible alarm.

Additionally, if a significant overload condition persists, the GPU will now automatically shut down and display “OL” to protect the aircraft and itself from any chance of accidental damage.

This upgrade is included on all 2835 and 2870 Series GPUs manufactured after January 1, 2015. The upgrade is also available for previously manufactured GPUs for $90. Eligible GPUs must be returned to the factory freight-prepaid for this upgrade. Call our customer service team at 800-322-8346 for details and to obtain the required return authorization.
